ECC okays Rs300m grant for border markets

Joint border markets will be set up at Mand, Gabd and Chedgi

The government on Wednesday approved a technical supplementary grant of Rs300 million from the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for establishing joint border markets at Mand, Kech district, Gabd, Gwadar district and Chedgi, Panjgur district.

Chairing a meeting of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the cabinet, Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Shaukat Tarin gave the go-ahead for allocation of Rs100 million for each border market.

The ECC also okayed a technical supplementary grant for the Covid-19 Response and Other Natural Calamities Control Programme (Sindh Component) worth Rs9.39 billion. The committee endorsed the allocation of Rs98.7 million to meet the requirements of Frontier Corps, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (South), DI Khan under the Interior Division.

The ECC approved Rs25 million for the headquarters of Pakistan Rangers, Islamabad under the Interior Division.

The committee gave the green light for a technical supplementary grant of Rs39.058 million for the Pakistan Institute of Development Economics for the payment of salaries.

Cumulatively, the ECC approved technical supplementary grants worth Rs9.86 billion for various divisions.
