LAHORE:

Lahore High Court (LHC)’s Justice Ali Zia Bajwa directed the Jhang DPO to hold an inquiry over illegal custody of a man and his son in connection with contracting love marriage.

The court had ordered to produce father and his son before the court but they were not produced.

However, a police official on behalf of the SHO produced an FIR which actually had been registered on the same day when the court had directed to produce the detainees.

At which the court issued show cause notice to SHO over not complying with court’s order and sought explanation over why an FIR was registered on the same day when the court had directed to produce the detainees.

Meanwhile, Justice Bajwa directed the DPO to produce the SHO along with detainees before the court by Friday.

The DPO then produced the SHO along with the detainees. Justice Bajwa came down hard on the conduct of the police department.

He made clear that any unlawful act of the police will not be tolerated. However, the SHO tendered unconditional apology but Justice Bajwa rejected it.

SHO assured the court that such false cases shall be immediately canceled. Meanwhile, Jhang DPO assured that such incidents relating to violation of fundamental rights will never take place in future.
