Four beggar handlers among 31 suspects held by ICT police

Recovered narcotics, liqour, mobile phones and weapons from their possession

The Islamabad police have arrested 31 suspects, including four beggar handlers and recovered narcotics, liqour, mobile phones and weapons from their possession. A spokesperson informed on Monday that following the directions of Senior Superintendent of Police (Operations) Dr Syed Mustafa Tanweer, crackdown against criminals is continued.

According to details, Noon police team arrested a drug peddler namely Khalid Khan and recovered 5,200 grammes of hashish from his possession while a Ramna police team arrested two accused identified as Abdul Akber and Samiullah and recovered 250 grammes of hashish and a 30 bore pistol from their possession.

Similarly, Nilore police apprehended two accused named Ajmal Shahzad and Asim Zaheer and recovered two rifles along with ammunition from their possession while Bhara Kahu police arrested the accused Muhammad Qasim and recovered 1,030 grammes of hashish from him.

Moreover, Tarnol police arrested two suspects identified as Awais and Amjad and recovered a 12 bore gun and a dagger from their possession. Meanwhile, during special checking, police recovered 10,130 grammes of hashish from a vehicle.

The official further stated that Industrial Area police arrested a suspect named Johnson and recovered 3,250 grammes of hashish from him while Margalla police arrested an accused identified as Ali Shan and recovered a stolen mobile phone from his possession.

Similarly, Sihala police arrested the accused Hassan Sajjad and recovered a 30 bore pistol from his possession while Bani Gala police arrested a suspect named Kashif Masih and recovered 50 litres of alcohol from him. Cases have been registered against the nabbed individuals and further investigation is under way, the spokesperson added.

Furthermore, during a special crackdown against professional alms-seekers and their handlers, various police teams arrested 19 people, including four handlers.

DIG Operations Afzaal Ahmad Kausar and SSP (Operations) appreciated the performance of all the teams. Dr Tanweer maintained that providing maximum relief to the citizens is our top priority and every possible step would be taken to ensure the safety and security of their lives and properties.
