Cop, ex-wife caught blackmailing woman

KARACHI:

A policeman and his ex-wife were caught in a sting operation on Monday on charges of blackmailing a woman to extort money.

The complainant, Mahim Khan, had filed a report that a cop named Junaid and his ex-wife, Dua, were threatening to upload compromising photos and videos of her on the internet.

According to Korangi SSP Shahjahan Baloch, the Awami Colony Police planned a sting operation and asked the victim to call the blackmailers to a particular place and hand them over the amount they were demanding.

The precinct’s SHO had posted his men in plainclothes around the place and the moment Mahim handed over the packet of cash to Junaid and Dua, they swooped down and arrested them

SSP Baloch said that the arrested policeman is posted at Taimuria Police Station as a report writer.

During interrogation, Baloch said, the suspects confessed to blackmailing the woman in exchange for cash.

Korangi district’s top cop said that the case is being forwarded to the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA). “The arrested suspects will be interrogated by the CIA police,” he said.
