KARACHI:

The Sindh Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) claimed on Wednesday to have arrested four members of proscribed Sindh Revolutionary Army in a joint-operation with Sindh Rangers.

According to a statement issued on the day, the CTD Operation-II and the paramilitary force arrested Sajjad Ali Channa, Mohsin Raza Channa, Noushad Ali alias Saddam and Aslam Baig in an operation in Pehlwan Chowrangi near Rabia City in Gulistan-e-Jauhar.

CTD Operations SSP Arif Aziz said the law enforcement personnel confiscated weapons and ammunition from the suspects.

Aziz added that the arrested suspects are members of the SRA Asghar Shah alias Sajjad Shah group, which was involved in recent hand grenade attacks on Rangers and the police.

According to a report issued by the Pakistan Institute for Peace Studies, Sindhi nationalist groups carried out at least 10 attacks in the province. These included eight perpetrated by the SRA alone.

CTD Operations-II has at least 13 members of the banned separatist group in custody. The arrested suspects were reportedly participating in protests of Sindhi nationalist missing persons.

The CTD said further investigation is underway.
