Man ‘shoots dead three daughters’

Suspect initially aimed at his wife who was rescued by other family members

A man allegedly shot dead his three daughters in New Mohalla Sharif Khel near Iskanderabad, Mianwali. Reportedly, four-year-old Arfa, two-year-old Alisha and one-year-old Misbah were among the murdered.

According to the police report, the suspected identified as Nadir Khan quarreled with his wife. He wanted to shoot his wife but the family rescued her from the deranged suspect.

Meanwhile, the three girls were sleeping in a bed in the room. The suspect Nadir, in a fit of rage, started firing at the sleeping girls.

As a result of the incident, Alisha and Misbah were killed on the spot while Arfa died on her way to a hospital. Local police took immediate action and arrested the alleged murderer.

Later, Mianwali DPO Mustansir Feroze visited the residence of the victim’s family to express his condolences.

Incidents of murder by a family member were not uncommon in the province. On March 7, a woman along with her accomplices murdered her husband, a lawyer, in the Sandal Bar area of Thikriwala.

The victim’s wife Asma Bibi along with a cousin and another accomplice killed him during a staged robbery.

Reportedly, 26-year-old member of Faisalabad District Bar Association Advocate Suleman Khaliq, a resident of village 30JB, along with his brother Rehman Khaliq, wife Asma and uncle Zahid Ali, was returning home in his car after attending a dinner arranged by his relatives to celebrate his wedding when the attack took place.

On their way home, two masked robbers on a motorcycle stopped the car near Chak 34JB, Balochan, and took the advocate out of the car. They took him aside while their accomplice who was standing near his car snatched jewellery from the woman. According to initial reports, the assailants shot the lawyer seven times on resisting the robbery.

On March 3, a woman was strangled to death by her husband and brother in the name of honour in Khurrianwala.

The suspected murderers tied a rope around the victim’s neck and strangled her to death.

Reportedly, 26-year-old Mahwish Bibi, the daughter of Nawshir, a resident of Chak No 534GB, was married to Ali Raza, the son of Zulfiqar and a resident of Chak No 448GB, eight years ago.

The couple had three children including three-year-old Sufyan, two-year-old Faizan and eight-month-old Ghafan.

On the day of the incident, Ali Raza, while going on a business trip with his brother-in-law Khadim Hussain, saw his wife Mahwish with a man named Fazal alias Faju, a resident of the village.

Ali developed suspicions over his wife after which he and Khadim grabbed Mahwish and put a headscarf and a rope around her neck, strangling her to death.

On February 23, a mother reportedly killed her two minor children by setting them on fire in the Mangamandi area of Lahore.

The suspect, identified as Tanzeela Bibi, had been living with her husband Waqas in Asad Allah Kot village near Kalalan Wala Khooh Mangamandi. They had three children, two of them identified as Abdul Rehman, 3 and Faizan, 4 from their wedlock.

The couple had a very strained marital relationship and would often quarrel with each other over petty issues.

On December 25 last year, a woman killed her husband along with his friend after setting both of them on fire in Pakpattan.

The woman initially served an intoxicant to her husband and his friend which made them unconscious.

She then along with a male accomplice set both of them on fire.
