LAHORE:

Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice Muhammad Qasim Khan has directed the Lahore capital city police officer (CCPO) to pass on instructions to all station house officers (SHOs) of the province to immediately register a first information officer (FIR) if they receive a complaint against the Defence Housing Authority (DHA).

The chief justice also directed DHA Administrator Brigadier Waheed Gul Satti to appear on Wednesday with the record of 50-kanal land of the LHC that the armed forces had allegedly occupied. In addition, he also summoned the Lahore commissioner and deputy commissioner.

Hearing petitions accusing the DHA of occupying about 300 kanals of land obtained on lease from the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB), the CJ said the administrator would be sent to jail if criminality on his part was proved.

Earlier in the morning, CJ Khan summoned the DHA administrator in the afternoon after removing his ranks and stars, cap and belt.

The court also summoned the CCPO. During the proceedings, the counsel representing the DHA argued that the Supreme Court, in a suo motu case, had decided the matter in 2018 and the land was still in the housing authority's possession.
