Man booked for attacking ex-CJP’s son

Siddiqui says suspect wants to illegally occupy his property, threatened him of dire consequences

The Gizri Police have registered the case for the attack on the residence of former chief justice of Pakistan Saeeduzzaman Siddiqui’s son, Afnanuzzaman Siddiqui.

The case has been registered on Afnan’s behalf, under Section 324 (pertaining to attempt to murder) of the Pakistan Penal Code. Afnan has nominated a man named Irfanullah Kundi in the FIR.

According to Afnan, his father was allotted a land in Islamabad and Kundi wants to illegally occupy the property. Afnan told the police that Kundi had even threatened him of dire consequences if he did not accede to his demand.

The investigation police have been assigned the case’s probe and CCTV footage from cameras mounted near Afnan’s house is being acquired to help with the investigation.

The police had not found any spent bullets from the crime scene after the firing incident was reported on Wednesday.

The incident took place on Tuesday night, when unidentified men opened fire at Afnan’s residence in Khayaban-e-Rahat, Defence Housing Authority and fled.

Siddiqi’s son, Afnan Saeeduz Zaman Siddiqi, told the media that he was dropped to the house by friends moments before the attack. Afnan added that fortunately, he had entered the residence and his driver was entering when they heard two gunshots.

Afnan said his driver fell to the ground and suffered minor injuries due to the fall. He continued that policeman, deployed for his security, opened fire at the assailants and their action caused the gunmen to flee.
