Daily death toll exceeds 100 across province for second consecutive day

As many as 103 more people succumbed to the coronavirus disease across the province over the past 24 hours.

The death toll from the disease exceeded 100 for the second consecutive day in Punjab.

According to the data shared by Punjab Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department (P&SHD), the death and positivity ratio were increasing across the region.

On Tuesday, the province witnessed the highest single-day death toll after 104 people lost their lives to Covid-19.

As many as 2,969 fresh infections were confirmed in public and private hospitals of Punjab.

With these 103 deaths over the past 24 hours, the total death toll reached 7,664 in Punjab while total 276,535 patients had contracted the coronavirus.

Reportedly, maximum patients of coronavirus was reported in Lahore whereas 1,454 new patients were confirmed with coronavirus over the past 24 hours. Besides this, maximum cases were also confirmed in Faisalabad where 244 persons contracted the virus, 292 in Rawalpindi, 145 in Sargodha and 117 in Bahawalpur.

Beside these large districts, coronavirus cases were confirmed from almost all districts of Punjab. As many as 224,029 people recovered from Covid-19 in the province. The P&SHD conducted 4,375,382 tests in the region.
