Punjab Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department (P&SHD) Secretary Sarah Aslam has said that the department is working tirelessly to ensure successful coronavirus vaccination drive across the province by inoculating more than 20,000 senior citizens per day.
She expressed these views while on a visit to the coronavirus vaccination centre located in Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute (PKLI) on Sunday.
The Primary and Secondary Health Department secretary said that the PKLI coronavirus vaccination centre has been set up to facilitate people residing in areas around Bedian Road, airport and cantonment.
“Given the scale of the vaccination drive, we are continuously working on improving service delivery at 126 centres across the province,” she highlighted.
“Currently, people over 60 years of age are being immunised against the coronavirus while the registration for people between the ages of 50 to 60 years has also started,” the P&SHD secretary underlined.
She urged senior citizens to get registered for the jabs through phone number 1166.
“Phase-wise, we are aiming to vaccinate most of the population and achieve herd immunity. I also plead with citizens to get their second dose in time.”
A technical and administrative team of the P&SHD department also accompanied the secretary to the centre as she examined the process flow and noted the bottlenecks.
