Unintentional murder: Owners of collapsed building remanded till Aug 14

The owners of the collapsed building have been charged with 'negligence' in construction and maintenance.

The owners of the collapsed building in Lyari are in police custody on physical remand for four days for further investigations.


The accused, Abdul Shakoor, Mohammad Imtiaz and Mohammad Ayaz along with other owners of the collapsed building were produced before a judicial magistrate, Mashooq Ali Balicho. The police have requested a ten-day extension in their physical remand so that the statements from witnesses can be recorded.

The allegation against them is of “negligence” in the construction and maintenance of the five-storey building in Moosa Lane on Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai Road in Lyari that had collapsed on Aug 4. Over 30 people were killed in the incident.
