Massive-scale plantation across Islamabad has brought freshness in the air during the spring season. The Capital Development Authority (CDA) planted hundreds of saplings in all sectors of Islamabad under the prime minister’s vision to mitigate environmental pollution the other day.
In this regard, CDA and Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) have been assigned special tasks that both bodies will complete till 2024. A number of floral plants have been planted on Srinagar Highway, Peshawar Mor, Zero Point, Faisal Avenue, Constitutional Avenue, Blue Area, Khayaban-e-Suharwardy, and other sites.
The presence of plants has changed the outlook of the federal capital amid the depressing atmosphere of the pandemic. CDA Director General (DG) Naveed Tareen and Director Akhtar Rasool said that the citizens are required to play their role in ensuring environment-friendly conduct in the city.
They added that it is the first time that precious saplings are being planted under a public-private partnership. The officials said CDA has constituted a special task force for the protection of plants as it distributed free saplings among the residents in the outskirts of the city.
They claimed that the saplings planted in the past two months amounted to Rs1 million, adding that the authority received sponsorship for this purpose.
