At least two women sustained injuries on Saturday after ‘strange metal objects’ fell from the sky in Karachi’s Sher Shah neighbourhood.

The strange incident frenzied speculation on social media where users let their imagination run wild over the origin of the sky objects.

Panic prevailed in the area after the incident. Police officials however later confirmed that the metal parts actually belonged to a flywheel machine that exploded at an iron rolling mill in Sher Shah.

According to eyewitnesses, the metal parts fell from the sky at three locations including Pak Colony after an explosion that also caused damage to the factory.

The blast was so intense that the roof of the factory was blown up. The incident also damaged few graves at Mayo Shah Cemetery and roofs of three houses.

SHO Sher Shah Muhammad Rafique said that the police are investigating the matter and according to the initial reports, the metal objects are from the exploded boiler.
