PM Imran wishes Christian community a 'happy Easter'

Premier takes to Twitter to wish the community on its special occasion

ISLAMABAD:

Prime Minister Imran Khan wished the Christian community on the occasion of Easter, on Sunday.

"Wishing all our Christian citizens a happy Easter," the premier said in a Twitter post.

The annual Easter festival marks the resurrection of Jesus Christ and the culmination of 40 days of lent - a time of fasting, reflection and spiritual renewal for the Christian community.

In the same year as coming into power, PM Imran assured the community that the government would protect “at every cost” all the rights the Constitution of Pakistan guarantees to them.

During a meeting with the representatives of the community, he had stated that the Constitution provides equal rights to all citizens irrespective of caste, colour or creed.

The premier assured that the government would continue to protect rights of the minorities and ensure equal opportunities to participate in national life.

He also acknowledged and appreciated the services of non-Muslim communities especially the Christian community in various fields including education, health and social welfare.

PM Imran emphasised upon the need for promoting inter-faith harmony and working hand-in-hand for the development and prosperity of the country.
