Two armed men on a motorcycle gunned downed the president of traders’ association in the district on Thursday night. Police said the Yousuf Jamal Tika was going home with his father in a car last night when two unidentified armed men on motorcycles opened fire on their vehicle near Crescent Girls College Road.

As a result, Tika was killed in the firing while his father survived. After the firing, he was rushed to THQ Hospital Chichawatni and from there to DHQ Hospital Sahiwal in critical condition where he succumbed to his injuries. City police station registered a murder case against the two unidentified suspects. During the operation, two people were arrested on suspicion from Talamba and were questioned about the incident during investigation. Police handed over the body of the deceased to his heirs after postmortem. According to police, four pistol bullets were fired at the victim's vehicle; one of them hit the victim which proved to be fatal.

The bullet hit the upper right side of the victim's abdomen. The bullet caused holes in the liver, stomach, small intestine and blood vessels. His death occurred due to excessive internal flow of blood in the body. Funeral prayers of Yousuf Jamal Tika were offered at Jamia Masjid Block No. 12, in which hundreds of citizens including political, social, commercial and religious personalities participated. The deceased was buried in the local cemetery in the presence of hundreds of mourners after the funeral prayers. All markets and bazaars in the city were closed in protest of the brutal killing.
