
Various artistes performed traditional dances and songs in a virtual show hosted by the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) on Saturday.
Speaking on the occasion, PNCA Director General Dr Fouzia Saeed said that students from various schools participated in the event.
She said that the holding of such cultural events played a vital role in promoting the diverse culture of the country.
Nowruz is celebrated with the advent of spring, she explained.
"Nowruz is celebrated in Pakistan in Wakhi, Shina, Balti, Barushaki, Wakhi, and Khuwar communities in Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral. Nowruz is a festival that has been celebrated for thousands of years."
Meanwhile, the PNCA released the 4th episode of "Seen Studio" featuring renowned folk singer Gulshan Jahan. The Arts Council has recently postponed many of its scheduled programmes because of the third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic due to which all of the events are being streamed live on PNCA Facebook page and Youtube channel.
Dr Fouzia said the Arts Council would continue online programmes to to promote artistes amid the pandemic.
She said the PNCA is making efforts to promote the regional as well as international cultural exchanges to portray the true image of Pakistan and its centuries-old cultural traditions.
She said that efforts are also under way to explore new avenues to engage youth in its cultural endeavours in this testing time of the pandemic.
