Youth get Rs1.2b loans for starting business

Over 1,500 applicants in Faisalabad receive financing under Kamyab Jawan programme

The Kamyab Jawan programme has proved to be a milestone for the youth of Faisalabad as more than 1,500 entrepreneurs have started their own business by getting Rs1.2 billion in loans under the scheme, said Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) on Youth Affairs Usman Dar.

Speaking at an awareness session at the National Employment Exchange Tool (NEXT) at the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) on Thursday, Dar said that the first phase of Kamyab Jawan programme was launched to streamline access to financial resources for the youth.

“The next phase has now kicked off and it is aimed at providing skilled workforce for the industrialists and entrepreneurs,” he said. “It is a competency-based programme, which will help employers find suitable workers and support youth in landing jobs as per their specific requirements.”

He added that job placement centres would also be established across the country to provide a free facility for the people at their doorsteps.

National Vocational and Technical Training Commission Executive Director Dr Nasir Khan also attended the session.

In December 2020, the government approved the “Skills for All” project as a catalyst for technical and vocational education and training (TVET) sector’s development through 14 TVET-specific interventions.

The strategy was part of the Kamyab Jawan programme launched by the prime minister. (with additional input from our correspondent)
