FAISALABAD:

The wife of slain police inspector Abdur Razzaq Gujjar was sent to jail on judicial remand while her son was handed over to police on a four-day physical remand to probe thoroughly into the murder of the police officer.

According to police officials, Inspector Abdur Razzaq Gujjar was killed on Sunday and Sadar Sammundri police took the inspector’s wife Naseem Akhtar, her son Abdus Samad and their accomplice Latif, a cousin of the inspector, into custody on suspicion.

The accused confessed their crime during a preliminary investigation. Police produced Naseem Akhtar and her son Abdus Samad before the court of Special Judicial Magistrate Iftikhar Husain Cheema on Tuesday.

The learned judge sent the cop’s wife to jail on a 14-day judicial remand and granted a 4-day physical remand of her son. Coming out from court room, Akhtar told reporters that she did not regret killing her husband as he was a brute.  “I do not regret killing him or burning his dead body,” she said, adding “I think I did the world a favour. In this holy month I got rid of an evil man. My husband was a cruel and corrupt person who never cared about his wife or children. He deserved to die,” she said.
