ISLAMABAD:

It is often said that the trials and tribulations of life are best expressed most eloquently in poetic terms. A case in point is the book of poetry of late Usman Khan Usman in which he has highlighted the issues of human life in his poetry.

These views were expressed by Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Syed Fakhre Imam at a book launching ceremony titled “Sheesha-e-Dil”, a compilation of poetry by researcher and poet Muhammad Usman Khan Usman. It was held by the Kohsar Adbi Forum in collaboration with the Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL).

The minister was the chief guest at the ceremony which was presided over by Prof Maqsood Jafri, while Dr Nisar Turabi and Shazia Akbar were the guests of honour. PAL Chairman Dr Yousuf Khushk was also in attendance. The programme was moderated by Gul Nasreen.

Imam said that the part of Usman Khan's poetry which deals with personalities describes the Quaid-e-Azam as the most significant person.

PAL Chairman Dr Yousuf Khushk said that in this collection of poems, the poet presented the history of the country and abroad beautifully through his observations. “He also mentioned the leading leaders of the Muslim Ummah and paid homage to literary personalities.” Khushk said Usman had inspired the new generation to struggle in life through his poetry.

Prof Maqsood Jafri said Usman's poetry collection “Sheesha-e-Dil” is important in that it gives a clear picture of human affairs. “His poetry has many colours – and all of them are the colours of truth. In his poetry, the colours of devotion are vivid in Salam, Manqabat, Hamd and Naat.”
