After the third wave of Covid-19 in Peshawar, the district administration has imposed a smart lockdown in four different localities across the city.
As per a notification issued by Deputy Commissioner Peshawar, a lockdown has been imposed in some areas of Hayatabad Phase 4, Phase 7 as well as Shami Road and Muslimabad apart from some streets of University Town.
The notification states all these streets and areas will be closed for every kind of traffic.
Only general stores, medicine and emergency services shops will be allowed to stay open in these areas.

Smart lockdown has been imposed in several parts of the city in the past when new coronavirus cases were detected among the local population. Police is deployed in such areas 24 hours a day who are provided tents as well as protective suits and face masks. Many people continue questioning the effectiveness of the smart lockdowns.
The K-P health department reported 319 new cases and four new deaths on Sunday due to the prevailing virus. 133 patients also recovered from the virus over the weekend. Out of the 74,027 cases in the entire province, 2,113 people have died up till now.
