Gang donning police uniforms arrested in Peshawar

Police recover Rs700,000, 900 riyals and weapons from their possession

Peshawar Police arrested a gang of four robbers on Tuesday who were infamous for committing crimes by dressing up as policemen.

The recovered items during the raid included cash, jewels, mobile phones, weapons and uniforms of police personnel.

SP Saddar division Waqar Ahmed, while addressing a press conference in connection with the operation, said that the armed gang broke into the house of Qari Abid Ali and looted Rs700,000 in cash, 900 Saudi riyals, gold and valuable mobile phones.

Sarband police registered a case on Qari Ali’s complaint and CCPO Peshawar Abbas Ahsan constituted a special team to nab the culprits.

The team arrested four accused persons including Muhammad Umair Nisar and Noman Yusuf Ali, who are resident of Sarband area whereas Fazal Rehman is a resident of Swat and Mujahid Rafiq hails from Khazana.

They have confessed to the crime during the preliminary investigation.

According to police, the accused were also previously arrested for a robbery in Nowshera and had planned the current robbery during their time in jail.

After their release from jail, the accused contacted each other and executed the crime.
