Ulema, members of the civil society and the local administration have agreed to demonstrate unity over the restoration of the historic Prahladpuri temple located near the shrine of Bahauddin Zakariya.
In a meeting of a peace committee, it was agreed that exemplary unity should be demonstrated. The committee observed that minorities enjoyed complete religious freedom in the country. The participants declared that they had no objection on the restoration of the temple.
The peace committee will facilitate steps to ensure the implementation of the Supreme Court order related to the restoration of the ancient temple. Addressing the committee members, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Political Affairs Malik Aamir Dogar sought cooperation from Ulema and the civil society to maintain a peaceful environment in the city.
Commissioner Javed Akhtar Mahmood stated that the Punjab government had entrusted all powers to the district administration for maintaining peace in the city.
