Operational preparedness in peacetime guarantees peace: COAS

Gen Qamar visits Thar Desert to witness ongoing training exercise 'Jidar-ul-Hadeed', according to ISPR

While lauding the standard of training of troops, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa said on Monday that vigorous training and highest standard of preparedness in peacetime are the only guarantors of peace, according to Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The military's media wing said that COAS visited training area in the Thar Desert near Chhor and witnessed ongoing training exercise wherein the operational capability of field formations operating in the desert is being tested in near battlefield environment.

 

"The training exercise Jidar-ul-Hadeed involves integrated manoeuvres of infantry and mechanised forces in a defensive role," the statement added.

On arrival in the field area, COAS was given a detailed briefing by exercise commander on the aim and objectives of ongoing exercise and drills/procedures being practised to ensure complete dominance of the battlefield.

 

ISPR said that the troops have been undergoing the exercise under strenuous field conditions for over two weeks which will culminate on February 28.

While lauding the standard of training of participating troops, General Qamar expressed his complete satisfaction over operational preparedness and combat readiness of the formation.

"Vigorous training and highest standard of preparedness in peacetime are the only guarantors of peace," COAS emphasised.

Earlier, on arrival at exercise area, COAS was received by Corps Commander Lieutenant General Nadeem Ahmed Anjum.
