My Insta following is 100% organic, I don’t know why people question that: Aiman Khan

Actor spilled the beans on reel and real life on Time Out with Ahsan Khan with husband and actor Muneeb Butt

Aiman Khan and Muneeb Butt are easily among the most popular couples of Pakistan’s entertainment industry and the most loved as well. But while the prior is on a break from showbiz, the latter is still working on various projects.

Recently, the duo appeared on Time Out with Ahsan Khan, where they talked about their relationship, future aspirations and off-screen lives. The two also took a dig at the way women are represented in TV serials, and the impact an actor’s on-screen persona has on their reputation.

“People say that males are more dominant in our society but let me tell you, in the cities, women are more dominant, especially in the matters of the house. You can’t dictate your wife at home. That’s her department,” Muneeb quipped, as he lifted the curtains on his relationship with Aiman.

The two continued to pull each other’s leg on television as the host failed to pick sides. “Every innocent married man is afraid of his wife,” continued the Yaariyan actor. But aside from being the obedient lamb, does Muneeb take charge of domestic work? inquired Ahsan.

“He loves cooking. Sometimes when I’m tired he makes me food, irrespective of whether it’s 4 in the morning. He will go and fry an omelet for me. Recently he made me salmonella as well, it was really good,” assured Aiman, honestly and gratefully. So what about her cooking skills? “Whatever she makes I just close my eyes and eat it,” joked Muneeb, once again.

Refusing to clap, Aiman interrupted claiming she makes really nice food. “Especially for him, okay.”

Being parents

The duo embraced parenthood in 2019. Pictures of their daughter, Amal, often steal the spotlight on social media. So about being parents in a hyper-mediated world, the duo went on to relay what they focus on most.

“Whenever I’m tired or not feeling well, Muneeb helps with Amal,” remarked Aiman. “I just think kids shouldn’t be over-pampered. Parents these days, especially mothers, pamper their kids so much that they grow up becoming sensitive when that attention is taken away. Children grow stronger when they have a rough and tough upbringing,” asserted the actor.

“But if Amal hurts herself, I feel like I’ve hurt myself too,” said Aiman. “If she cries I start crying too. I’m just a very emotional person,” Aiman justified, like every mother ever.

“Yes, and that’s why I always fail to understand who I need to console,” joked Muneeb, standing by what he said.

The actor also drew parallels between Aiman’s emotional outbursts to her characters on screen. “I think it’s because she is asked to cry so much on television that she’s developed a habit of crying. In every Pakistani TV serial, heroines are required to shed at least 2kg of tears so that the drama becomes a hit. Tears equal to TRPs you know,” he laughed.

On that note, Ahsan asked Aiman if she’s planning on making her on-screen comeback anytime soon. “I’m not, this is that phase where my kid needs me most,” she claimed.

Growing together

About each other’s acting prowess, the host inquired if the two push each other for better projects and performances. “I tell Muneeb when I like his acting and I tell him when I don’t,” said Aiman.

“I think Aiman is my biggest critic,” Muneeb agreed. “I just feel that works you know, that’s how I improved. In my case, my mom would tell me if my expressions or acting looked unreal, so I do it right the next time.”

Muneeb also revealed that he discusses most of his projects with his wife, so he knows what he should and shouldn’t say yes to. “What about your Instagram?” Ahsan asked Aiman. “Is your following organic and did you aim to have that many followers or do you make content specifically for your account?”

The Baandi actor immediately clarified, “My Instagram following is 100% organic, I don’t know why people even question that. I joined Instagram when there were very few people on the app. And my followers grew progressively. I have never planned my content. There are times when I don’t even have pictures to post. I just post when I have something and that works for me.”

Muneeb also backed up his wife recalling how she made his Instagram account herself. And reinstated that by the time he joined, Aiman already had 600k followers.

On popularity

About her massive fan base, Aiman agreed that it may have a lot to do with her and Minal being twins. “People are always fascinated by that. It may have lost its charm now since we look a bit different but as kids, we were exactly the same.”

Muneeb relayed how one writer had even promised he’d write a television serial specially revolving around the twin-factor for the two of them. “Every time I’ve met one of you I’ve had to ask which one I’m speaking to,” quipped the host.

“No that happens, even now when I go to the mall, people come up to me thinking I’m Minal to compliment my work. I just nod and say thank you, so they feel happy,” Aiman remarked.

“So many times, random aunties have also scolded me for Minal’s character in Jalan that I am forced to say ‘aunty jee sorry, wo main nae hun meri behen hai.’”
