Ex-bar president remanded for five days

ISLAMABAD:

A district and sessions court on Saturday remanded a former president of the Islamabad District Bar in judicial custody for five days.

Zafar Khokhar, who was present before the court, has been booked in the Islamabad High Court (IHC).

District and Sessions Judge Tahir Mahmood Khan directed the relevant authorities to produce the suspect before an anti-terrorism court (ATC) on February 19.

Meanwhile, an ATC rejected the post-arrest bail plea of lawyers arrested in the IHC attack case.

Naveed Hayat, Nazia Bibi, Chaudhry Zafar Ali Warraich and Sheikh Mohammad Shoaib had filed bail pleas.

The lawyers maintained in the petition, in which the police chief and the federal government have been made respondents, that the allegations on them were baseless.

However, the ATC rejected their application.
