NAB moves to close graft inquiry against PPP lawmaker

The National Accountability Bureau informed the Sindh High Court on Tuesday that there was no evidence of corruption against Pakistan Peoples Party member of National Assembly (MNA) Sardar Muhammad Bux Khan Mahar.

The court was hearing the bail petition of the PPP lawmaker, who is accused of misusing his authority. The NAB prosecutor submitted the anti-graft watchdog's report to the court after concluding an inquiry against Mahar.

The prosecutor told the court that the NAB has not acquired any evidence of corruption against the MNA. He informed the court that the NAB chairperson has been asked to close the corruption inquiry against Mahar.

The prosecutor sought time from the court till the response from the bureau's chairperson could be received. The court sought a response from NAB in the next hearing.

Later, the court extended the interim bail of the lawmaker till March 11.
