The Balochistan government has launched a pilot programme to digitalise health department for provision of telehealth facilities at various Basic Health Units (BHUs).

While talking to APP, an official of the provincial government said, initially the project was started in four fields including ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat), gynaecology, skin and gastrology, while in future more fields would be added to the project.

“The programme would be extended to almost all BHUs in the province’s far-flung areas,” he said, adding the supply of telemedicine kits to various BHUs in the province had also been completed.

The government aimed to transform the health department to make it modern and professional and strengthen the system for the betterment of service delivery, he added.

He said the scheme would revolutionise the health sector of the province and a large number of people would get benefit from the project.

“The Balochistan government has proposed Procurement Strategy for MSD to ensure uninterrupted supply of medicine to public hospitals,” said the official, apprising that the district level performance based monitoring and assessment system would also be introduced.
