This is with reference to your story “India to oppose Pak-China nuclear deal” (June 21). The reason why India is opposing this deal is because of our history.

And no, everything does not move as per our wishes and whims and fancies. If it did there would have been no terrorism and no deaths. Most of the time, we Indians are peace loving people and like to live in harmony. I come to this newspaper site with only two objectives: to understand Pakistan and its people, who I am sure are just like me and want to change the perception the people of Pakistan have of India. We know there is an acute power shortage in Pakistan so a nuclear reactor for energy purposes may make sense. Have a nuclear reactor by all means.

But we worry that its by-products, namely weapon grade uranium and plutonium, can fall into the wrong hands. We worry about the political instability in Pakistan and the unregulated powers of its Army. We are a peace-loving nation. Yes we have a dark history but India has so many problems of its own, we want to live in peace. Hope this clears some perceptions.
