Rawalpindi Regional Police Officer (RPO) Imran Ahmer vowed to make Rawalpindi a drug-free district by enhancing the capacity of investigative officers (IOs) by designing new courses and encouraging the use of information technology (IT).
Rawalpindi RPO expressed these views on the occasion of his visit to the Rawalpindi Police Line Headquarters on Thursday.
Ahmer also presided over a high-level meeting to examine methods to curb crime and enhance the capacity of the force.
The meeting reviewed the practical manifestations of the exercises, serious crimes, vehicle and motorcycle theft, investigation of drug cases, and overall performance of Rawalpindi police.
RPO was briefed about the registered cases and apprehended suspects. The meeting also reviewed the problems faced by IOs along with their possible solutions.

RPO stressed the need to establish liaison with the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) in a more effective manner along with identification and resolution of the issues encountered during the investigation by contacting the related forums.
In a bid to make Rawalpindi a drug-free district, RPO directed the senior officers to make the registration of drug cases and their investigation effective under their supervision.
Ahmed said that the efficiency of the IOs should be improved and for this purpose, they were designing new courses that. He added that IT courses will also be included so that the efficiency and overall performance of the police department could be improved.
