ISLAMABAD: The city administration fined more than twenty fruit vendors and shopkeepers on Tuesday for not displaying rate lists in their shops and overcharging customers in Aabpara market. City Circle Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa and officials of the city police made a surprise check on shops here and imposed fines ranging from Rs400 to Rs20,000 on fruit vendors who had failed to display rate lists at their stalls and shops despite the orders of the Islamabad chief commissioner. Plainclothes officials had informed Randhawa that certain shopkeepers were charging above the set prices. He warned vendors and shopkeepers that legal action will be taken against them if they fail to submit the fines or comply with instructions from the administration.
