PESHAWAR:

Businessmen in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa have called for the removal of impediments to increase in trade between Pakistan and regional countries. “Bolstering regional trade is essential for stabilising the economy, prosperity and improvement in exports,” remarked Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Sherbaz Bilour. During a meeting with traders, importers and exporters, Bilour urged Pakistan and Kabul to review their policies in order to ensure smooth trade between the two neighbouring countries. Meeting participants identified the bottlenecks in the way of trade between Pakistan and Afghanistan as well as Central Asian Republics (CARs) and suggested several proposals for their removal. It was agreed that the recommendations would be sent to the diplomatic missions of Central Asian countries, besides relevant authorities and institutions for dealing with the obstacles impeding bilateral trade between Pakistan and Afghanistan and other regional countries.
