KARACHI:

The wife of a city government official who went missing or was kidnapped while on duty in Lyari has gone to court for help. She has asked for answers from the Sindh Home Secretary, Inspector General of Police, SHO of Kalakot police station and the town police officer of Lyari.

On Tuesday, Chief Justice Mushir Alam and Justice Imam Bux Baloch of the Sindh High Court issued notice to these officials to provide an explanation.

According to Razia Shahid, her husband is a driver with the CDGK and went to Lyari to fumigate the town in his van that is fitted with a machine on June 23. He was, she said, abducted by unidentified men at gun point.

Her husband’s brother lodged a FIR the next day. A senior officer was informe of the incident and the police were asked to investigate but nothing has happened so far, she said. After the initial hearing, the bench ordered pre-admission notices to be issued to all the respondents for a date to be fixed later by the office of the court.
