JEHLUM:

The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has failed to control food outlets and roadside vendors selling unhygienic food in different parts of Jhelum.

According to a survey, the hotels around the city are selling unhealthy and unhygienic food while PFA is not taking any action against them. Vendors are seen selling fritters, samosas, and other oily and unhealthy items at roadside stalls with complete disregard for health principles.

The locals have requested PFA director general to take notice of the situation. They complained that sub-standard food is being sold in large numbers of roadside dhabas in the city, owing to which the consumers’ health is at risk and results in various diseases. The use of substandard meat is ailing the citizens as well, the locals added.

The citizens alleged that all this is happening as a result of negligence on the part of the PFA officials who have turned a blind eye towards the risks associated with such practices.
