1,505 new infections emerge in Sindh

Coronavirus claims 14 more lives in province

As many as 1,505 fresh Covid-19 cases were reported in Sindh on Saturday, following which the province's infection tally rose to 225,509, according to a statement issued by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah.

The CM said that 14 more coronavirus-related deaths were reported in the province on the day, lifting the death toll to 3,693. He said of the newly reported cases, 1,258 were detected in Karachi, with 408 belonging to East district, 323 to South district, 212 to Korangi, 179 to Central district, 89 to Malir and 47 to West. Moreover, Umerkot saw 41 more Covid-19 cases, Hyderabad 26, Mirpurkhas 24, Dadu 23, Shaheed Benazirabad 15, Tando Allahyar 12, Badin 11, Sukkur nine, Thatta, Khairpur, Larkana and Ghotki eight each, Matiari seven, Jamshoro six, Sujawal and Naushehro Feroze five each, Shikarpur four, KashmoreKandhkot three and Sanghar and Jacobabad one each.

The CM further said 18,488 Covid-19 patients were under treatment in the province, of whom 17,590 were in home isolation, 877 in different hospitals and 11 in isolation centres. He added that the condition of 744 patients was critical and 84 of them were on ventilators. On the other hand, 758 people recovered from the contagious disease overnight, which took the total number of recoveries in Sindh to 203,328, the CM said.
