Sindh reports 17 deaths, 1,265 fresh infections

The coronavirus claimed another 17 lives overnight, lifting the provincial death toll to 3,670, said Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Thursday.

According to a statement issued by the Chief Minister’s House, another 1,265 people were diagnosed with the virus when 12,461 samples were tested between Tuesday and Wednesday, raising the provincial virus tally to 222,999.

Shah further stated that 2,385 patients recovered from Covid-19 overnight and the number of recoveries now stands at 202,034.

He said that 17,295 persons in Sindh are currently infected by the virus. Of these, 16,439 are in home isolation, 845 are being treated at different hospitals and 11 are admitted at isolation centres. He added that the condition of 756 patients is critical and 77 of them have been shifted to ventilators.

Of the newly reported cases in the province, 1,002 emerged from the port city alone, Shah apprised, adding that 302 cases were detected from the South district, 278 from East, 163 from Korangi, 119 from Central, 72 from Malir and 68 from West.

Vaccination centre in Jamshoro

Separately, Hyderabad additional deputy commissioner Tabraiz Sadiq Marri has said that a divisional anti-Covid vaccination centre will be established in Jamshoro district. Chairing a meeting on Thursday, he directed the relevant officers to finalise all the arrangements in this regard. He sought a list of all health workers and employees of the provincial health department, who are to be given training regarding the vaccination centre.
