RCB trying to remove encroachment

People bring back carts, stalls in cleared areas

Despite repeated anti-encroachment drives in commercial areas in the limits of areas under control of Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB), people brought back pushcarts and stalls.

Officials said that drive against encroachment has become a regular exercise of the RCB staff who keep monitoring the encroachment-prone areas.

In the just ended year, RCB confiscated over 210 truckload goods from Saddar and different markets under its grand operation against encroachments to make the RCB areas encroachment free during 2020.

The grand anti-encroachment operation on the special instruction of Cantonment Executive Officer (CEO) was launched and the teams conducted 225 operations in different areas.

According to RCB spokesman, the grand clean-up operation against encroachments continued during 2020 in RCB areas and the encroachments were removed from different markets including Saddar bazaar, Tench Bhatta, Peoples Colony, Dhoke Syedan, Bakara Mandi, Chungi Number 22, Chor, Masrial and several other areas while the teams also issued over 560 notices to the rules violators.

Sheds illegally constructed in various commercial areas were also demolished, he informed.
