KURIANWALA:

Police have registered a case against three persons including a couple for throwing acid on a citizen during an altercation 20 days ago.

The case filed by the complainant, a resident of Makoana, Chishtnagar 229, after completion of medical formalities, stated that the accused Ramzan had borrowed Rs26,000 from him.

He went to take back the money when the accused Ramzan along with his wife Ramzana Bibi and son Yaseen threatened the victim with ‘serious consequences’.

Later, the accused physically assaulted the money lender. Ramzan's wife and son then picked up a bottle of acid and gave it to Ramzan who threw the acid on the victim. The victim sustained serious injuries and was shifted to Civil Hospital Faisalabad.

Khurrianwala police registered a case under Section 336 B-337F3/34TPP against the three attackers and started raids to arrest them.

Incidents of acid attack were not uncommon across the province.

On September 15 last year, a man reportedly threw acid on his wife after failing to convince her to return along with him from her parents’ home in Faisalabad.

The acid attack left the woman severely injured and she was admitted to the Civil Hospital.

Her husband threw acid on her after she refused to return to his home with him.

The victim had married accused Abdul Rafi, son of Abid Qayyum, four years ago.

The accused had tortured his sister and kicked her out of his house over a domestic dispute earlier last year. She went to Faisalabad and was living with her parents.

The accused, armed with a pistol, entered the house with two unidentified accomplices. He had a white cup in his hand and threatened to kill his wife as soon as he arrived.

He later threw the acid from the cup on his wife when she refused to accompany him to his home.

As a result, her eyes, nose, neck and shoulders were badly burnt and her eyes were almost lost. The accused fled the scene on a motorcycle after the attack.

On June 22 last year, as many as five men were arrested by police for throwing acid on their sister-in-law over a domestic dispute in Dera Ghazi Khan.

The incident took place in Shah Saddar Din, where the woman informed the police that her brothers-in-law had thrown acid on her face over a domestic dispute.

On May 29 last year, a young girl suffered burn injuries on her face and arm when her fiancé attacked her with acid in Jaranwala.

The victim was engaged to her cousin Kamran, a resident of Bahawalpur. The engagement was called off due to certain suspicions over about the character of Kamran.

Kamran threw acid on his ex-fiancé when she stepped out of her home to throw garbage. As a result, Maryam sustained severe burn injuries on her face and arm.

In April last year, a woman was attacked with acid by her husband Haroon and her in-laws in the area of Chak No 241GB of Thikriwala. The two accused involved in the incident were arrested by police and sent to jail.
