The Karachi traffic police have finalised the traffic plan for New Year's Eve, according to which citizens will not be allowed to park their vehicles anywhere on Sea View Road, Sharae Faisal, Abdullah Haroon Road, Dr Ziauddin Ahmed Road, Mai Kolachi Road, Korangi Road and MT Khan Road.

A traffic police spokesperson said on Wednesday that roads leading to Bagh Ibn-e-Qasim in Clifton and other recreational spots would remain open for the public, appealing to citizens to follow traffic rules.

He said Sea View Road would partly remain open for one-way traffic.

Moreover, the traffic police have decided to take action against motorcycle riders not wearing helmets and drivers driving vehicles without silencers and rashly.

The spokesperson said the violators would be taken to police stations for further legal proceedings.

He said citizens could reach out to the traffic police on their helpline, 1915, or WhatsApp number, 0305-9266907, for complaints of any traffic-related issues.

Traffic updates will also be aired on radio channel FM 88.6, he added.

Ban on aerial firing

A meeting, presided over by Karachi Commissioner Navid Ahmed Shaikh, decided on Tuesday to impose a ban on indiscriminate aerial firing on December 31 by enforcing Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC).

The commissioner directed the deputy commissioners to take action against violators in coordination with the relevant SSPs and book them under section 188 of CrPC.
