Balochistan Home Minister Mir Zia Ullah Langau on Tuesday announced that Chief Minister Jam Kamal has halted the work on erecting a fence in the port city for the time being.
“The government would not take any decision against the wellness of the local population of Gwadar,” Jam Kamal had said.
While speaking at an open Kacheri in Gwadar on Tuesday, he said that the incumbent government wanted to ensure to involve local population of Gwadar in the development process and ensure their ownership regarding projects launched by the government.
A large number of people including leaders of political parties, social activists and people from different walks of life attended the open Kacheri and expressed their point of view regarding the fencing project.
The home minister added that he would present his report in view of the people’s point of view regarding fencing in Gwadar. “The local population would not be kept away from Gwadar at any cost and any decision regarding fencing would be taken after taking the local people into confidence,” Langau assured.
He said that the Jam Kamal led government gave top priority to the benefit of the local population in the development process because without involving local people the development process would be meaningless.
Langua clarified that the fencing project is not a secret plan and it was included in the master plan of Gwadar. “It is a plan for integrated protection of the port city and nothing else,” adding that the security forces present in Gwadar are our own forces which have rendered great sacrifices for maintaining peace and order.
