A newlywed woman was poisoned at gunpoint by her jilted lover in Khurrianwala on Tuesday. The police had registered cases and were conducting raids for the arrest of the suspects.
According to the police report, the case registered by Fazil Abbas, a resident of Katcha Gora, stated that a man named Kashif Ali, the son of Ali Akbar, would often harass his 21-year-old daughter.
According to the complainant, he had informed about the harassment incidents to the area residents.
They had called the suspect and advised him to stop the harassment but the accused reportedly did not pay any heed.
The complainant added that his newlywed daughter was cleaning outside the home during which the suspect Kashif confronted her and forcefully fed poisonous tablets to her at gunpoint. After the victim made hue and cry, Muhammad Tariq and Muhammad Sajjad reached the site and called police as well as Rescue 1122.
They later took the victim to Allied hospital where she eventually passed away.
The police booked the suspect in a case under Section 302 and had begun conducting raids for his arrest. According to the police report, the accused Kashif wanted to marry the victim but her family members had got her married to someone else a month ago.
This is not the only incident of assault or murder by the victim’s lover.

She resisted the bid and reacted by screaming, which caught the attention of the other women working on the spot. The local people in the fields began to gather to foil the kidnapping attempt on which the accused became deranged and allegedly fired at the girl.
