An elderly woman was martyred in cross-border fire by Indian troops along the Line of Control (LoC), a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Tuesday.
According to the military’s media wing, Indian army unprovoked ceasefire violation in Hotspring and Jandrot sectors along LoC deliberately targeting civil population with mortars and heavy weapons, resulting in martyrdom of the 50-year-old woman and serious injuries to three other citizens including a four-year-old boy Nayab.

On Sunday, a senior Indian diplomat was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFa) to register Pakistan’s strong protest over the recent ceasefire violation by occupation forces along LoC, resulting in serious injuries to innocent civilians.
The Indian forces along the LoC and the Working Boundary (WB) have been continuously targeting civilian populated areas with artillery fire, heavy-calibre mortars and automatic weapons.
This year, India has committed more than 3,000 ceasefire violations, resulting in martyrdom of nearly 30 innocent civilians and serious injuries to over 250 others.
Condemning the deplorable targeting of innocent civilians by the Indian occupation forces, the foreign office had said that it was underscored that such senseless acts are in clear violation of the 2003 Ceasefire Understanding, and are also against all established humanitarian norms and professional military conduct.
According to official statement, by raising tensions along the LoC and the WB, India cannot divert attention from the grave human rights situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
It added that the Indian side was called upon to respect the 2003 Ceasefire Understanding, investigate this and other such incidents of deliberate ceasefire violations and maintain peace along the LoC and the WB.
The Indian side was also urged to allow the United Nations Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) to play its mandated role as per the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) Resolutions.
