The Islamabad Police claimed to have arrested 45 suspects, including seven proclaimed offenders, from various areas of the city and recovered mobile phones, narcotics and weapons from their possession, a police spokesperson shared on Monday.
Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Aamir Zulfiqar Khan and DIG (Operations) Waqaruddin Syed had directed all officials of the city’s police force to accelerate their efforts to curb antisocial activities in the city. Following these directions, SP Saddar Sarfraz Virk constituted a team under the supervision of sub-divisional police officers, including SHOs of the Shalimar and Karachi Company police stations and others.
The team arrested three suspects, identified as Mansoor, Tallah and Najseem Khan, and recovered 700 grammes of hashish and a gramme of cocaine from their possession. Another team, from Kohsar police station, arrested two suspects, named Nawaz and Shakaz, and recovered stolen mobile phones from their possession. The Bani Gala police arrested Shoaib and recovered a 30 bore, unlicenced pistol from his possession. Similarly, the Ramna police arrested an accused, identified as Qamer Iqbal, and recovered a 30 bore pistol from his possession.
The Tarnol Police arrested Sultan Khan and recovered another 30 bore unlicenced pistol from his possession. The Shahzad Town police arrested Mahmoodul Hassan on the same charges. The Sihala police arrested three suspects, identified as Hassan Imtiaz, Arbab and Ashiq, recovering 232 grammes of hashish and two 30 bore, unlicenced pistols from their possession. A squad from the Lohi Bher police station raided a suspected sheesha centre and apprehended 25 people for indulging in the prohibited activity. Separate cases have been registered against the suspects and further investigations are underway. Additionally, during special checking in the capital, police got hold of seven proclaimed offenders.
