LAHORE:

The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) sealed three slaughterhouses and several food businesses across the province on Sunday.

PFA officials carried out operation against food adulterators and sealed Noor Dera slaughterhouse for storing and selling unwholesome meat.

Similarly, PFA food safety teams sealed two more slaughterhouses in Ghoray Shah over non-compliance of food regulations.

The food safety teams also sealed Waheed Desi Food Factory for using unhygienic chemicals and non-food grade colours in preparation of various products. The premises and food production area were also swarming with insects.

For ignoring previous instructions of improvement given by food safety teams, Jhoolay Laal Pakwaan Centre in Ravi Town and Bhola Paan Shop in Kasur, for selling banned ‘gutka’, were also sealed. PFA Director General Rafaqat Ali Nisowana stated,

“Citizens should play their role in reporting adulteration and other crimes related to food businesses.”
