Afghan refugee axes wife in Dir Colony

Further investigations in the case are underway

PESHAWAR:

An Afghan refugee allegedly axed his wife to death and left his daughter seriously injured in an attack apparently in the name of honour in the Dir Colony area on the outskirts of Peshawar. Sher Khan, in a complaint lodged with the police, said that Izzat Khan had married his sister and the two had a daughter together. However, after a verbal dispute, Izzat allegedly attacked his sister with an axe, killing her. During the attack, Izzat also critically injured his daughter. The suspect then managed to flee. Police lodged a first information report (FIR) in the case and managed to arrest Izzat. During questioning, he allegedly told police that he had killed his wife over a domestic dispute. However, police suspected that he had allegedly killed his wife for honour. Further investigations in the case are underway.
