Almost a year after the announcement, Deepika Padukone is all set for the Indian remake of Nancy Meyer’s 2015 comedy-drama The Intern, which originally starred Anne Hathaway and Robert De Niro, reported Times of India.
The film that was set to see Padmaavat actor team up with Rishi Kapoor will now go on floors mid-2021. The film is currently said to be in its pre-production stage.

This confirmation comes amidst hearsay about the fate of the film after Kapoor’s sudden demise in April. The veteran star was set to take on the role of ‘Ben’ played by De Niro in the film that would see Padukone play ‘Jules’.
The plan is a part of the strategic partnership between Warner Bros and Azure Entertainment to jointly develop, produce and distribute key titles from the WB library.
It is further reported that the makers are looking for a new actor for De Niro's role to replace the late Bollywood star.
While the remake of a classic takes place in 2021, Padukone has back-to-back films such as Pathan alongside SRK, Shakun Batra’s film, Mahabharat and Nag Ashwin’s directorial to be released in the coming years.
