Deal finalised with Daducha Dam contractor

Officers of Small Dams Organisations will hold weekly meetings to review progress on small dams

All agreements have been finalised with the contractor for the construction of Daducha Dam, officials told a meeting on Monday.

Rawalpindi Commissioner Muhammad Mehmood, chairing the meeting, directed the Revenue Department and the Small Dams Organisation to speed up work on the small dams planned in the Rawalpindi division.

Officers of Small Dams Organisation (SDO), a subsidiary of the Punjab Irrigation Department, will hold weekly meetings with the Revenue Department officers review progress on the small dams projects in the division.

Commissioner Mehmood was chairing a meeting to review the start of work on Daducha and Mahuta dams on Monday.

The officer was informed that measures were being taken to initiate work on the Daducha Dam while all affairs have been finalised after consultation with the contractor.

All stipulations of the contract have been agreed upon with the contractor while the provision of security on the Daducha Dam construction site would also be provided on the requirement.

For Mahuta Dam, officials said that the matters pertaining to distribution of compensation amount to affectees and others were being resolved at the earliest.
