CM gives nod after receiving report on complaints against departments

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has approved indiscriminate action against corruption in government departments in the province.

The approval was given after a report was sent by Director General Anti-Corruption Gohar Nafees about officials facing complaints of corrupt practices.

Sources said the report sent to the chief minister had revealed that complaints regarding corruption against more than 36,000 officers of Punjab government departments had been received during the past two years.

The highest number of complaints was against officials of the finance department. As many as 12,852 complaints pertaining to the department were received. Of the complaints mentioned in the report, 10,344 were against the police, 4,862 against local government department, 1,920 against irrigation department, 2,106 against health department and 1,885 against education department officials. Meanwhile, 882 complaints were received against housing and urban development department, 903 communications and works, 632 highways department and 519 complaints against the deputy commissioners’ offices, the sources said.
