An art exhibition on violence against women is taking place

Multi-dimensional event in accordance with 16 days of women's activism, to create consciousness about women rights

ISLAMABAD:

The Nomad Art Gallery in collaboration with Shanakht Trust will hold an art showcase on Sunday, December 6 themed “Violence against women, empowerment and the way forward.”

The exhibition will be featuring different events including an art exhibition, music, readings, mural paintings, mime, live art, crafts display and various performances.

This multi-dimensional event is being arranged in accordance with 16 days of women's activism, to create consciousness to sensitise women about their due rights being affected in domestic violence as the majority of them are unacquainted of basic rights.

According to an official, various artists will participate including Ibrar ahmed, Abbas Shah, Ahmed Habib, Farrah Mahmood, Masood A Khan, Riffat Khatak, Saima Aslam, Samreen Asif, Samina A. Akhtar, Sumera Javed, Sayed Irfan and Zia Zaidi. Added by the official, there will be theme-based paintings that will be displayed including crafts work and musicians that will spellbind the audience with their performances.

An official in authority for the exhibition emphasised that we need to educate women on the subject of their fundamental rights to guard them against physical violence.
