Pakistan condemns Nigeria attacks

Several people were abducted while at least 110 people were killed in the attack

ISLAMABAD:

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Wednesday strongly condemned the Nov 29 attack in Nigeria where 110 people were killed and several abducted.

The bloodletting had taken place in the village of Koshobe near the main city of Maiduguri, with assailants targeting farmers on rice fields.

In a telephonic conversation with his Nigerian counterpart Geoffrey Onyeama, Qureshi said: “Pakistan condemns terrorism in all its forms and offered the country’s all-out support in countering the menace of terrorism.”

The country condemns terrorist activities and attacks against the national security of every state, the foreign minister said, adding that such attacks are against the human and religious values and principles. He expressed hope that more than 50 abducted citizens would be recovered soon.

In response, Nigerian Foreign Minister Geoffrey Onyeama lauded Pakistan’s “successful strategy” against terrorism.” He stressed the need for mutual assistance and technical support between the two countries.
