LAHORE:

Punjab Minister for Industries and Trade Mian Muhammad Aslam Iqbal has suspended the audit notices issued by the Department of Social Security due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

During a meeting with a delegation of the All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (Aptma), headed by its Central Chairman Adil Bashir, Iqbal assured industrialists that the provincial government would provide complete support for a smooth functioning of all industrial units in order to increase exports of the country.

He asked Aptma member mills to ensure compliance with all prescribed standard operating procedures (SOPs) in a bid to fight effectively with the second wave of Covid-19. “The government has pinned high hopes on the export-oriented sector for increase in exports, creation of jobs and new investment,” Iqbal said.

He pointed out that development work on establishing industrial zones was being done on a priority basis and was expected to be completed in the first half of 2021. “All zones will serve as industrial hubs equipped with all basic infrastructure and state-of-the-art facilities.” The minister urged industries to start planning for setting up their industrial units at the earliest.
